6 Causes of Hormonal Acne

Hormonal acne is a type of acne that is triggered by an imbalance of hormones. It i smost common to go through acne whilst going through your teenager years however some adults can also suffer with this.

 

Believe it or not, women are most affected by hormonal acne due to the amount of hormonal changes the body goes through.

 

Hormonal acne can be found typically around the jaw line, lower cheeks, chest and even the back.

 

But what can cause these symptoms?

 

- PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome)

- Menstrual cycle

- Pregnancy

- Menopause

- Increased Androgen levels (Male hormones)

- Medication

 

Changes in hormone levels can make breakouts even worse. Such as more production in sebum which can cause bacteria in pores and further breakouts.

 

Controlling hormones can be difficult and there is not much you can do if your hormones fluctuate.
