Psoriasis...what is it?
Psoriasis is a condition on the skin where it you show symptoms such as:
- red, scaly patches
- which can be itch.
- It can appear either on your elbows, knees, legs, scalp or even worse all over!
- Flaky dry skin
- Soreness
There are loads of different types of psoriasis, depending on the location of the patches. your GP will be able to determine what kind you have.
What causes Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is caused by skin cells turn over a lot quicker than usual. There is no explanation as to why this happens however research shows that it could be due to a weak immune system.
Normally skin turn overtakes around 3-4 weeks. However, those who suffer with psoriasis turn over their skin cells between 3-7 days.
